After the 2-1 win over Mexico's America, Kevin de Bruyne and Pep Guardiola gave their thoughts on the debut of Julian Alvarez, who made his first appearance for Manchester City after a spell with River Plate.
"He looks very, very good. I think a lot of people have been really impressed with him because obviously sometimes you see some clips on the internet, but it's very different when you see him playing," said the Belgian, speaking to the Cityzens' official website.
In the same vein, he added: "Maybe the fact that he is still in the middle of the season helped him a little bit, but he started ready. He played very well today and I think he could be a great player for us".
For his part, Pep Guardiola revealed when he decided to sign Alvarez: "After what happened with Raheem (Sterling) and Gabriel (Jesus), who left.... But he played very well at River Plate. His impact there in Argentinian football is very big.
"And of course, as a young player, I had the feeling that he would give us a good time with us in future," said the Spanish coach, pleased with the Argentine performance against America.
