Van Dijk and Frenkie de Jong leave Netherlands camp

Virgil van Dijk and Frenkie de Jong 's November international break has come to an early end, despite the Netherlands' remaining game against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Tuesday in the Nations League.

The Dutch national team confirmed on Monday that the both players have left the camp and will therefore not be available for Ronald Koeman in the final game of the Nations League group stages. 

"Virgil van Dijk and Frenkie de Jong are not part of the squad for our final group stage game against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Nations league," read the 'Oranje' post on X - formerly known as Twitter.

On the reason behind their absences, Dutch boss Koeman said: “For both Frenkie and Virgil it is better for them to leave the training camp at this moment. That decision was taken on medical grounds, with of course the interest of the players coming first.”

The pair will therefore make their way back to their respective clubs to prepare to get back to league action. Van Dijk will hope to get enough rest to be involved in Liverpool's upcoming Premier League clash against Southampton at the St Mary's, meanwhile De Jong has his sights set on the Barca's game away at Celta Vigo.
