After the signing of Casemiro, Manchester United have a key challenge ahead of them: to get their fans excited again. It will be difficult after starting the Premier League with two consecutive defeats.
One of the Red Devils' best remembered players, Gary Neville, a regular commentator on 'Sky Sports', criticised the management and the current job at the English club.
"Manchester United is a graveyard of players, a horror story," said the Englishman, before claiming that only "four or five have worked" in recent years, specifically since 2013.
Cristiano, Pogba, Varane, Maguire... An endless list of additions that do not quite work out to, at least, achieve qualification for the Champions League.
"The club spent 1.49 billion euros on all these players, and only Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Bruno Fernandes worked. Cristiano Ronaldo, Matic, Maguire, Fred, Cavani, Shaw and Ander Herrera didn't have a negative impact, but they didn't confirm their full value either," he stressed.
According to Neville, "the problem lies with the remaining 24 players, who have failed after an investment of 979 million euros".
