Ten Hag explains Wan-Bissaka's absence from Newcastle clash

Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka did not play in the Premier League match against Newcastle and his absence came as a surprise to fans.

Erik ten Hag explained why the English right-back was not available: "Yesterday, in the night he didn’t feel very good. Overnight it got worse so therefore we made the decision that he stays out. So it’s illness," he said.

The 25-year-old played a key role in the Red Devils' last match against Howe's side in the EFL Cup final but was unable to help his team this time around.

The former Crystal Palace footballer has played 22 competitive matches this season.
