Sterling puts off new deal after Barca interest

Barcelona want to increase the level of their squad, although they must first stabilise their poor financial situation. Once this is resolved, the club have got several players on their list.
One of those is that of Raheem Sterling. The Man City is not only wanted by Barca, but he also seems delighted about that opportunity. In fact, he has reportedly halted penning a new deal with the English club.
That is what 'Sport' says, who say that Barca have led to the player taking this decision. The striker's contract expires on 30th June 2023, although Barca are more interested in getting him on loan in January.
Sterling and Man City have been talking about the new contract for a long time. The Englishman is not comfortable at the Etihad as he has started just four of the 10 games he has played. He has scored one goal and got an assist in 462 minutes.
'Sky Sports' in England says that Sterling, who has been wanting a pay rise for some time, feels attracted to the possibility of becoming one of the stars of Laporta's new project. That, together with his reduced game time at City, could see him move to the Camp Nou.
