Solari waits on Varane fitness

The Frenchman did not train with the rest of the squad on Tuesday, and is a serious doubt to face Ajax. 'Marca' claims that Solari will not make a decision on Varane's fitness until the last minute. The Argentine manager has not given any clear signals as to whether the defender will play a part in the Champions League round of 16. If he does not recover in time, it is most likely that Nacho Fernandez will partner Sergio Ramos in central defence. 

Solari also faces a selection dilemma at left-back, with both Marcelo and Reguilon in contention. The Brazilian would appear at a disadvantage in this battle, having performed poorly in Madrid's recent 1-1 draw with Barcelona.
