Ecuador took on Senegal in the first effective knockout clash at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Both teams were fighting for a last 16 spot.
It was Senegal who drew first blood. Ismaila Sarr took advantage of his physical strength and, after getting ahead of Piero Hincapie, Sarr won a penalty just before half-time.
Sarr, Senegal's main man, took responsability and he calmly slotted to the goalkeeper's left.
Moises Caicedo then levelled for Ecuador from a corner after 67 minutes before Koulibaly made it 1-2 just three minutes later. Senegal will qualify for the last 16 as it stands.
