"Rudiger grabs Nyom's arm, it's not a penalty" - Getafe coach on Madrid defeat

Getafe coach Jose Bordalas discussed his team's defeat against Real Madrid (2-0) in a match that he considered “a reflection of what is happening to them this season”, as they “lacked accuracy” in front of goal. “We knew it was going to be a difficult match. We faced a team of Real Madrid's stature. It cost us a lot, but, despite the two goals, we competed. It was a reflection of what we have been doing during the championship. We lacked accuracy. Real Madrid had chances,” he said at the press conference.

“I'll keep the positive, with the fact that the team didn't lose face in the match and we had two chances with which we could have closed the gap,” he added. The Getafe coach criticised the decision of referee Hernandez Hernandez to call Nyom's penalty for a grab on Rudiger on the half-hour mark. “It's interpretable, but I don't see the penalty as clear. Rudiger grabs Nyom's arm and they both struggle. He decided to call a penalty that I didn't think was a penalty,” he said.

On the other hand, Bordalas spoke of the youth of his team. “In the second half, we had players from the reserve team, others who come from the third tier.... It's costing us a lot and it has a lot of merit that the team is competing and giving their all on a stage like the Bernabeu,” he said.

“It's going to be difficult. They are inexperienced players and everything requires a process. This is La Liga and we've had a lot of changes, with 13 departures, Mayoral's injury... We're trying to speed up that process. We are working tirelessly to try to grow and improve. We are a competitive team, but we lack goals,” he commented.
