Portugal defender Ruben Dias returned to group training on Friday in the final training session prior to the 2022 World Cup last eight clash with Morocco. Dias was in the gym on his own on Thursday before training on Friday and he is expected to be fit for Saturday's encounter.
Portugal coach Fernando Santos had all 24 players available for training in Qatar while Nuno Mendes (muscle injury on matchday 2) and Danilo Pereira (fractured three ribs in training two weeks ago) are already back in Portugal.
It remains to be seen which XI coach Fernando Santos decided to field. He did not reveal whether he will field the same team which thrashed Switzerland 6-1 or whether he will make changes. Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruben Neves or Joao Cancelo started the first three matches before being dropped to the bench for the game with Switzerland last Tuesday.
So, Ruben Dias will be able to play against Morocco in a match in which Portugal are the favourites, but as Spain know well, it is far from a foregone conclusion.
