Bad news for Chelsea, who are struggling to find their way in this 2023-24 season. Reece James, who had to be replaced at Goodison Park, will be out for around three months with a hamstring strain.
The England international had already missed a number of games between mid-August and the end of October through injury and will now have to be out for around the same length of time after a new muscle problem in his leg.
"Captain Reece James has undergone medical assessment following Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Everton. The defender was withdrawn during the first half at Goodison Park, and scan results have confirmed a hamstring injury. Reece will now begin his rehabilitation programme at Cobham," the Blues wrote on their website.
The right-back has only been able to play nine games this season and has only started in the starting eleven on six occasions. When it seemed that he was beginning to reach his best after a similar physical problem, with eight consecutive games, this new injury comes at the worst time.
