Finland have opted to already take the lead in their League B group. The Finns, who drew against Bosnia in the first matchday, took the win at home to Montenegro, who were top of the standings.
The player who gave Markku Kanerva's side the victory was Joel Pohjanpalo, who scored a brace in the first half. In just seven minutes, the striker turned the game in his team's favour (2-0).
In the 31st minute, the Bayer Leverkusen player finished off a great play by his national team. The ball was passed through several players until it reached Pukki, who assisted his team-mate inside the box and all he had to do was push the ball in. There were 15 touches in the build-up to the goal.
And in the 38th minute, Pohjanpalo scored his second goal of the day with an acrobatic finish. A free-kick from a wide position by Pingman and the striker, all alone, finished it and sealed the game.
The second half was calm because nothing happened to influence the result. Montenegro had only one shot on goal in the 90 minutes, while Finland had three.
