Sambi Lokonga will wear the colours of Sevilla next season after being on the La Liga side's agenda for several years. The Arsenal midfielder will begin pre-season under the orders of Garcia Pimienta after the deal was completed on loan with an option to buy for 12 million euros.
The departures of Boubakary Soumare and Lucien Agoume created an urgent need to strengthen the midfield. He came through the youth ranks at Anderlecht and his performances attracted the attention of Arsenal in 2021, who made a big bet on him and paid a sum of around 17 million euros.
However, he went from strength to strength during his time with the English club, which led to two consecutive loan spells. After a season and a half in London, Lokonga left on loan to Crystal Palace in the 2023 winter transfer window until the end of the season.
After a brief spell at Selhurst Park, he returned to Mikel Arteta's side before quickly moving on to Luton Town, where he spent the last 2023/24 season on loan, making 19 appearances, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
Now, the player arrives at Sevilla with new hopes and in a situation where both are needed. Lokonga wants to return to a prominent role and make a difference compared to his last two loan spells.
