The European transfer window closed on 30th August. However, there are still teams who are still making moves for players who were without a club.
One of the big unknowns of the summer has been the fate of Mats Hummels. The German centre-back, who finished runner-up in the Champions League, decided to end his time at Borussia Dortmund at the end of his contract last June, so he set off on a new adventure away from Germany.
It was not until 4th September 2024 that the German international announced his new club. He has signed with Roma until the end of the season and will be one of the pieces in Daniele de Rossi's project.
Hummels' future has taken several turns this summer. In fact, there were rumours of a move to Spanish clubs such as Mallorca and Real Sociedad, although none of those rumours came to fruition.
