Josh Cavallo caused a storm in the football world around a year ago. The Adelaide United player came out as gay on a video which was seen around the world and was praised and applauded by Europe's best players.
The player broke a taboo in football and claimed that he felt really calm, relieved and satisfied at having explained his sexuality. Above all, he was thrilled to have reached so many people and serve as a reference for thousands.
The World Cup is rapidly approaching. Josh Cavallo dreams of going with Australia to Qatar, but he is also aware of the hardship, the inequality and the discriminatory laws and culture in the country against homosexuals.
"I would like to go to the World Cup, but do I want my life to be in danger? My dream is to go and I want to also show that its okay for everyone and not only for Josh Cavallo because he's a footballer and he's protected", he explained in statement reported by 'Marca'.
The player stated that in all of his messages "there are a lot of people from these countries who have to escape to be able to live freely and be themselves".
"I hope that this changes in the future because things are not good as they are currently. It has been incredible to see the global reaction. It's like it happened five years ago because now I live each day to the fullest", he ended,
