Bizzare scenes in Lombardy as Monza reappointed Alessandro Nesta as manager just seven weeks after he had been sacked. The former centre-back returns at the helm of the side after Salvatore Bochetti's departure, who had been brought in as a replacement for Nesta.
"AC Monza announce the decision to relieve Salvatore Bochetti from his duties as first-team manager. The club thanks him for his work and wishes him the best of luck for the future of his professional career," reads a statement from the newly promoted side.
The news of Bocchetti's sacking was followed by that of Nesta as Monza released the following statement: "AC Monza confirms that Alessandro Nesta's dismissal has been withdrawn and he will retain the position of head coach of the 'Biancarossa' senior team. Good luck Alessandro!"
With another shot at the job, Nesta will be hoping to not disappoint the board a second time. During his first stint at Monza, which ended on December 23, he registered 3 wins, 7 draws and 10 defeats, but he will have to improve if he wants to save his side from demotion to Serie B. Monza sit bottom of the Italian flight with 13 points and 7 points needed to escape the relegation zone.
