The football world is mourning the death of Marcos Alonso Pena. The former Spanish player has passed away at the age of 63 after a long illness, reported 'Marca'.
Marcos Alonso Pena was the father of Marcos Alonso, the current Barcelona footballer. He was also the son of the footballer Marcos Alonso Imaz, Marquitos.
He made his debut in the top flight with Racing Santander in 1977. He spent two seasons with the Cantabrian club before moving to Atletico Madrid.
He began to stand out with the 'Colchoneros', thanks to his pace on the wing. He spent three years at the Madrid side before Barcelona decided to sign him.
His most prolific period as a player, in terms of titles, was spent at Camp Nou. He won a La Liga title, a Copa del Rey, a Super Cup and two League Cups before returning to Atletico Madrid.
Logrones and Racing Santander, again, were the last clubs he played for before becoming coach, where he played for Rayo Vallecano, Racing Santander, Sevilla, Zaragoza, Valaldolid, Malaga and Granada 74.
