Arsenal legend Ian Wright was in no doubt over praising Martin Odegaard, who, at just 24 years old, has become a leader and a star player for the Premier League leaders. For him, Real Madrid were "wrong" to get rid of the Norwegian.
"When we managed to get him on loan, I was surprised. I think that was obvious when I said he was too good for that side, which was still growing", the ex-Gunners striker when talking to the side's official website.
He then went on to praise the Norwegian and say that he should get a prize: "Ramsdale got the MOTM award in the derby, but Odegaard was close. If he carries on like this, he should be named Premier League 'Player of the Year".
"Madrid got it wrong, but I don't underdstand... They bought him when he was 15, and although they saw his potential, they weren't patient enough. Arsenal benefitted off that. We've just got to see how he leads the side as captain. He leads by example", Wright said.
Finally, the Arsenal legend explained that he is really happy with Odegaard: "He's great in tight spaces, he always finds a gap and time to pass the ball between the lines".
