Just as Kylian Mbappe did a few hours ago, Real Madrid issued a statement to condemn the words of Noel Le Graet, president of the French Football Federation against Zinedine Zidane, former footballer and coach of the Spanish team.
"Real Madrid regrets the unfortunate statements made by the president of the French Football Federation, Noel Le Graet, about Zinedine Zidane, one of the greatest legends of world sport," the statement began.
In the same vein, the 'Merengues' added: "These words are disrespectful to one of the most admired figures by football fans around the world and our club expects an immediate rectification. Zinedine Zidane, world champion and European champion defending the shirt of his country, among many other titles, represents the values of sport and has demonstrated this throughout his professional career as a player and as a coach".
"The statements of the president of the French Football Federation are unbecoming of someone who holds that representation and disqualify themselves, as do those he also makes about our captain Karim Benzema, current Ballon d'Or, Nations League champion with France in 2021 and winner of 5 Champions League titles, among many others," said the Whites.
Specifically, Le Graet's controversial words that aroused Madrid's annoyance were the following: "Zidane to Brazil? I've got nothing to shake up, he can go where he wants! At club level or even nationally, I almost don't believe in what worries him. Did he get in touch with me to manage the national side? Of course not, I wouldn't have even answered the phone".
