Lyon name Memphis Depay as captain

Memphis Depay has earned a more than deserved reward at Lyon. At 25, after 130 competitive matches, the Dutch international striker will wear the captain's armband this term.

Memphis Depay has played a total of 130 matches for Lyon. In two and a half seasons plus the current one, he has scored on 50 occasions.

This term, the Dutch international has played 14 fixtures and scored 11 goals as well as one assist.

Record stats for the ex-PSV and Man Utd star at the French outfit have led to him getting a deserved reward.

Rudi Garcia confirmed in a press conference that Memphis will be the Lyon captain this season after the 25 year-old striker is showing leadership and experience not in keeping with his youth.

That said. Depay will not be able to wear the captain's armband for Lyon's next match against Nice on Saturday 23rd November, because he is injured.
