FT: Schalke 2-3 Manchester City - And the referee brings the curtain down on a game that had pretty much everything. Aguero put City into the lead early on before two penalties were converted by Nabil Bentaleb to give Schalke a narrow advantage. Nicolas Otamendi was shown a second yellow in the second half, but City rallied magnificently, with Leroy Sane equalising with a stunning free-kick and Sterling firing home late on.

Ederson is booked after a bust-up with Schalke players. Handbags.

GOOOOAAAL FOR MAN CITY!! Ederson launches a goal-kick to Sterling on the left-wing, who barges his marker over before charging into the box and poking past Fahrmann. What a turnaround! Schalke have completely capitulated despite having an extra man!

HT: Schalke 2-1 Manchester City - What a half! Aguero put Manchester City into a deserved lead early on, before a Nicolas Otamendi hand-ball and a foul by Fernandinho gave Schalke two penalties. Bentaleb coolly converted both to give Schalke an unexpected lead at the break.

Bernardo Silva gets himself into a good position, but spoons his shot over the bar.

FIVE minutes added on at the end of the first half!

GOOOOAAALL FOR SCHALKE!! This time Ederson goes the right way, and even gets a touch to the ball. But Bentaleb's strike has too high and too powerful, and goes into the roof of the net. 2-1! Who would have expected this?

And the referee's given another penalty! Fernandinho was adjudged to have held back Salif Sane as he tried to make a run for the free-kick. Sane fell to the floor rather dramatically, but a penalty's a penalty.

Mark Uth goes into the book for Schalke.

GOOOOAAALL FOR SCHALKE!! Nabil Bentaleb sends Ederson the wrong way, firing low to his left. Game on!

And after a lengthy wait, he gives a penalty!

Schalke want a penalty! Daniel Caligiuri cuts inside and fires in a left-footed shot, which clearly hits Nicolas Otamendi's hand and is deflected for a goal-kick. The referee turns to VAR.

And hits it straight at Fahrmann.

Schalke are penalised for a hand-ball, and City have a free-kick on the edge of the area. De Bruyne lines it up...

Manchester City have it back though, and Sterling sees a shot blocked on the edge of the area.

Schalke on the attack at the moment. They've just had a corner and have retained possession.

Sterling and Silva suddenly find themselves through on goal with only one defender to beat. Silva feeds Sterling, who returns the favour, but the Spaniard can't get his feet sorted and is tackled. Should have scored!

How will Schalke respond?

GOOOOAAAALL FOR MAN CITY!! Salif Sane (no relation to Leroy) is robbed inside his own penalty area by David Silva. The Spaniard squares to Aguero, who can tap into an empty net. Very poor concentration from the Schalke defender, that was a very cheap goal to concede.

City opt for a complex passing move instead, with the ball eventually reaching Silva out wide. The Spaniard sends in a cross for Aguero, whose powerful header is tipped over the bar!

Now Sterling's brought down on the left-flank. Chance for De Bruyne or Silva to whip a free-kick into the box...
