“Fermin's injury? He comes from vacation and was fit"

Spain is back in action and this time as the new European champion after winning the title last July in Germany.  Ahead of the match of 'La Roja' against Serbia, the coach Luis de la Fuente, spoke on 'El Partidazo de COPE' and discussed several issues.

One of the topics he was asked about was Vinicius' controversial statements about possible racism in Spain: “Spain is not racist, we are an example and a mirror where everyone should look at tolerance, respect, integration... We can always improve and we denounce any racist act. Disrespect is intolerable. Spain is a world model”.

“I have to defend values and defend my country and everything that benefits my country because there is a lot at stake, a lot of families that depend on this, a lot of jobs and a lot of prestige. It's a country in need of events,” he added.

Another issue was the physical overload of the players, with emphasis on the case of Fermin, who had to withdraw from the Spain U21 national team due to injury: “We always ask and talk to the players, who always show interest, they always want to play everything.

“It was in a training session, it could have happened at his club. The player has to play as long as he is fit. He is coming from vacation and the players are not yet overworked after four matches.
