Liverpool are second in the Premier League table on 27 points - one behind leaders Manchester City - having won eight games, drawn three and lost just one in the English top-flight.
Moreover, they are not doing too badly in the Europa League group stage either, having won three games and lost just one. As a result, manager Jurgen Klopp is already planning for the winter transfer window and the reinforcements he needs to continue their great season.
Klopp's planned reinforcements for the Reds are no mean feat. According to the 'Mirror', these are the five players Liverpool want to sign in January:
Lucas Beraldo
The German coach believes that what he lacks in his squad is an extra centre-back. In fact, Liverpool's board travelled to Brazil to negotiate with Brazilian club Sao Paulo for his transfer.
The 19-year-old has stood out with his performances in recent games and has caught the eye of the English side. The Anfield outfit are willing to offer £20 million for his services in the January transfer window but Beraldo's club could ask for more for his transfer.
Beraldo helped his current team win the Copa do Brasil this year with his performances and was monitored by Liverpool scouts in Sao Paulo's 1-0 win over Cruzeiro last month.
Andre Trindade
The 22-year-old is being targeted by the Reds to continue their project of having an impeccable midfield. The Brazilian midfielder is the English side's next priority after the arrivals of Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.
Trindade started his professional football career with Fluminense and continues to help his boyhood club to this day. He has already played 163 competitive matches for the Brazilian club despite his young age.
He already turned down Liverpool in the summer transfer window despite being offered 25 million pounds but could have changed his mind by January.
Kalvin Phillips
Phillips has not played a prominent role at Manchester City since joining from Leeds United for 42 million pounds in the 2022/23 campaign.
As a result, the 27-year-old is likely to leave the Etihad Stadium in the January transfer window. According to reports in England, German giants Bayern Munich are keeping an eye on his situation but they are not the only ones.
Both Newcastle and Liverpool are interested in his services and could move for him in the coming weeks to try to sign him in January.
Piotr Zielinski
Yet another midfielder for Jurgen Klopp's wish-list. The 29-year-old is a player well-liked by the German coach due to his recent success with Napoli last season after winning the Serie A title.
His current contract with the Italian side expires at the end of the season and several clubs are keeping an eye on his situation as moving for him in the summer could be a move too late to secure his services.
The Polish midfielder has played 345 competitive games for Napoli, scoring 50 goals and providing 46 assists in eight seasons in Naples.
Kylian Mbappe
The French star needs no introduction. Klopp dreams of bolstering his attack with a world-class striker like Mohamed Salah, who has scored 12 goals in 17 matches this season.
Mbappe was expected to join Real Madrid as a free agent in June 2024 as his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the season. However, the Spanish giants are reluctant to the idea of him joining after his rejection.
As a result, Liverpool could move for him and try to negotiate a transfer to Anfield. Both Klopp and the board could try to convince the 24-year-old to continue his career in the Premier League.
Mbappe's inner circle already likes the English club. They only need to convince him.
