Kimmich will miss Ter Stegen in Germany's goal

Marc-Andre ter Stegen has had the misfortune to pick up a serious injury just as he has been on the verge of the big goal he had been aiming for in recent years, taking over in goal for Germany. Manuel Neuer's retirement from the national team opened the door for him, but a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee has ruled him out for the entire season.

Joshua Kimmich, one of the key players in the German national team, spoke about the absence of the Barcelona goalkeeper ahead of the upcoming training camps for the ‘Mannschaft’.

However, he didn't want to make any pronouncements on who his replacement will be: "It's very difficult to judge right now. I'll be completely honest. I don't know enough about the goalkeeping position. I can't judge him well enough. Of course we will miss Marc a lot."

Germany has changed a lot in recent months compared to previous tournaments: "Everything moves very, very fast in football. Not just at Bayern, but in general. Before the European Championship, the atmosphere in the national team was not very good. It started to improve and by the time the tournament came around, it was fantastic. We were able to build on this momentum and we were able to ignite a new spark at Bayern. We want to keep it that way."

"In my dream world, I'm now in the middle of my career, so I still have ten good years ahead of me," Kimmich joked on “BR24” about his future, as his contract expires in 2025 and he has not yet renewed.
