Mental health is at the centre of current affairs. More and more people are suffering from problems and have to go to a psychologist.
Andres Iniesta, Vissel Kobe player and former FC Barcelona player, admitted that he suffered from depression when he was a 'Cule'. It all stemmed from the death of his friend Dani Jarque, who played for Espanyol and died of a heart attack in 2009.
The Spaniard told Jordi Wild about the hard times he went through. "I lost the will to live. I hugged my wife, but it was like hugging a pillow. I didn't feel anything," he said on the podcast 'The Wild Project'.
"When I was struggling with depression, the best time of the day was when I took my pills and went to bed," he added. He struggled to come out of it.
Iniesta admitted that he is still going to therapy. "I need to sort myself out. I like to listen to professionals talking about mental illness and depression. Over time, life teaches you that these things can affect anyone. It's not about material possessions. I can have all the cars in the world and everything I want, but it's still hard to deal with life's problems," he said.
