There are some days when nothing seems to go right. It was one of those days on Saturday afternoon for Tottenham's Colombian defender Davinson Sanchez, who was completely off the ball. After coming on for Clement Lenglet in the 35th minute, his defensive line proceeded to concede two goals, gifting Bournemouth the lead, before he was replaced by Danjuma in the 58th minute.
Not only that, it was him who was arguably at fault for the visitors' two goals, and the London fans made him pay for his poor performance by whistling and booing him when being subbed off.
After the game, Hugo Lloris gave his point of view on what happened: "I've never seen anything like that in my career", the Spurs keeper admitted. "I feel bad for Davinson because he's a teammate, a fried. He's been fighting for the club for years. It's just sad. A sad story for the club, for the fans and for the player. It's something you don't want to see in football".
As for Tottenham boss Cristian Stellini, he defended his choice a "tactical one". After the game, he said "it's a difficult one for everyone. I thought it was too early to bring a striker on because we were leading 1-0 (when Sanchez went on). When we were losing 1-2, I thought that it was the right time to take Sanchez off. It was just a tactical decision".
Tottenham are now 5th in the Premier League and are three points off the top three. At the time of writing, however, they have played two games more than fourth-placed United, so Saturday's loss didn't help their Champions League hopes for next season at all.
