Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen, who confirmed that he has undergone "microsurgery" to treat his Achilles tendinopathy in his left leg, is confident of returning "at 100 per cent". Christensen, who has been out for three months, explained to the Catalan club's media that he has undergone such a minor operation "that it can be considered a clean-up".
"It shouldn't affect my time off. If it does, it will actually speed it up. I don't want to put pressure on myself, but I feel we are on the right track to get back to 100 per cent," he said. The Danish international has hardly been able to take part in the team's great start to the season and he made no secret of his disappointment: "I'm not enjoying it, but I'm looking forward to every day to get back with the team. Every day is one day less.
He is also aware that he needs to make a full recovery to help his teammates. "Right now, the focus is, and Flick (Hansi, the coach) also tells me, that it is very important that I get back to 100% to be able to help the team," he said.
Christensen knows that "there are a lot of games" between now and the end of the season and that there will be "opportunities for everyone" at the back, where Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez are currently playing, but he and Uruguayan Ronald Araujo will soon be back.
