"I'm looking forward to seeing the new Bernabeu, it's a boost for me"

Bayern Munich drew 2-2 with Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final, so they need a win in Spain to reach the final. A key part of Thomas Tuchel's set-up to achieve that will be Thomas Muller, who gave an interview to the German club's official media to analyse the game, in which he is particularly looking forward to seeing the new Santiago Bernabeu for the first time.

"I am looking forward to seeing the new stadium since it has been refurbished. What fascinates me about the Bernabeu is that it's in the centre of the city. You're in a residential area, you turn the corner and suddenly there's a stadium with 80,000 spectators. Football is a very important thing in Madrid. You realise it in matches like this. For me personally, it's an incentive to play better," the Bayern captain said.

"It will be a match of equals, on a knife's edge. Football has a lot to do with effectiveness. It will be a question of millimetres, of being effective in the moments when we create opportunities. We have to take them, that's all. Real Madrid have many aspects. They can drop back and have no problem defending because they know they have excellent players to counter-attack. That idea has worked for them many times, that's why they've reached so many semi-finals in recent years," added Muller.

"Madrid are extremely dangerous, but we can play them and stand up to them, and whether we can beat them will depend on whether we put the ball in the back of the net.
