Vinicius Jr is the main contender to win the next Ballon d'Or, something that one of his opponents in Saturday's Clasico also thinks.
Inigo Martinez, in an interview with Movistar, was questioned about next Monday's gala and was convinced that the Brazilian will be the winner: "Whoever wins, he will deserve it. We all know who it will go to. Vinicius will win, I have no doubt."
The Barcelona centre-back had good words for one of the forwards he will have to face at the Santiago Bernabeu. "He's a great player and he shows it, as he did the other day in the Champions League. He blew the game away and I do not doubt that he will try to do the same against us."
Martinez also hoped that, in future editions, there will be Barcelona players among the favourites to win the award. "Lamine Yamal could be there," said the centre-back about the already established star of the team despite being only 17 years old.
Vinicius is one of the 30 nominees to win the Ballon d'Or on Monday 28th. He is joined on the list by Bellingham, Ruben Dias, Foden, Fede Valverde, Emiliano Martinez, Haaland, Nico Williams, Xhaka, Dovbyk, Kroos, Dani Olmo, Florian Wirtz, Hummels, Odegaard, Rodri, Declan Rice, Vitinha, Palmer, Kane, Carvajal, Lamine Yamal, Saka, Saliba, Calhanoglu, Mbappe, Grimaldo, Lautaro Martinez, Lookman and Rudiger.
