From tears of despair to tears of joy

In Brazil, the Atletico Madrid forward was powerless to help as 'Les Bleus' crashed out at the quarter-final stage to eventual winners Germany. The defeat proved too much for Griezmann, who was reduced to tears at the full-time whistle as Mats Hummels' early header sent the French packing.

The tears returned following Sunday's win over Croatia, as Griezmann marked a fairytale year by claiming the title of world champion with his country. Having already won the Europa League with Atletico, the World Cup proved the icing on the cake for the forward, who once again broke down in tears. Having proven key for both club and country, it seems only fair that Griezmann add both titles to his ever-growing trophy cabinet.
