Gareth Bale's career was full of titles and great moments, but there were also bad times and controversies, most notably during his spell at Real Madrid. The Welshman was part of the club's most decorated era yet he left on bad terms with the fans.
On Monday, the Cardiff magician announced on social media that he was retiring from professional football. There were a lot of touching messages dedicated to him from ex-teammates all the way up to Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti.
But one of the most long-awaited arrived on Tuesday, when friend Luka Modric said a few nice words about the player he shared the Tottenham and Madrid pitches with. As the Croatian wrote, he is the player with whom he played the most amount of seasons.
"The teammate with whom I have shared the most seasons. What a career, my friend! It was great playing with you for Real Madrid and Tottenham. Enjoy your retirement", the midfielder posted on his Instagram.
