Former Sheffield United star George Baldock was found drowned in his home in Athens on Wednesday, informed Greek outlet 'SKAI'.
According to the same source, the lifeless body of the 31-year-old defender was found in the swimming pool of his home in the Glifada district of the Greek capital.
Reports claim that Baldock's wife, who currently lives in England, was concerned as she was unable to contact him after several hours without a response. It is said that she had asked a mutual friend to check on her husband, which sadly led him to find Baldock unalived in his pool.
Born in Buckingham, England, Baldock plays for the Greece national team, as he was able to gain citizenship from one of his grandparents who was Greek.
He began his career playing for Milton Keyne Dons and then joined Sheffield United in 2017, staying with the English club for seven years before moving on to Greek side Panathinaikos last year.
The defender counted four games for Panathinaikos, two which he played as a starter. His last game just three days ago, on the 6th of October against Olympiacos in a 0-0 draw.
