End of an era: Joel Ward to leave Crystal Palace this summer

The 35-year-old, who arrived from Portsmouth in 2012, leaves as the club's record holder for Premier League appearances, having featured more than 360 times in the top flight.
Ward played a pivotal role in Palace's modern history, most memorably helping the club earn promotion to the Premier League in 2013.
His last-minute goal-line clearance in the Championship play-off final against Watford remains one of the defining moments of that campaign. With his departure, he becomes the last remaining member of that iconic squad.
Club chairman Steve Parish paid tribute to the player's contribution both on and off the pitch, describing him as an "incredible ambassador" for Crystal Palace.
"Joel has been an example for all Palace players — in his values, in his presence, and in his dedication to representing this club with pride," he said. "This is a great time to celebrate his achievements and reflect on many great memories with a truly treasured player and friend."
Ward's legacy will be remembered not only for his longevity and consistency but also for the standards he set across more than a decade of loyal service.
