French-Guinean centre-back Mouctar Diakhaby was released from hospital after spending 48 hours in hospital after suffering a knee injury for which he will undergo surgery on Thursday in the French city of Lyon.
The player reappeared on Tuesday on crutches and with his right leg in plaster at Valencia's training complex, where he was welcomed by the medical staff, coach Ruben Baraja and all his teammates just before travelling to Lyon, where he will spend the next few days with his family.
Valencia said the French-Guinean will undergo surgery at the Jean Mermoz Private Hospital-Ramsay Health in Lyon by orthopaedic surgeon Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet and under the supervision of Dr Pedro Lopez.
On Sunday, Diakhaby said on social media that he will do "everything possible to get back to action as soon as possible and even stronger" and stressed his gratitude to the medical services, who looked after him "very quickly in hospital" and "with kindness and compassion".
The player suffered a dislocated right knee after Frenchman Aurelien Tchouameni fell on his foot during the 2-2 draw between Valencia and Real Madrid at the Mestalla.
