David Raya was named this season's Premier League Golden Glove winner after the Gunners claimed a 3-0 win over Bournemouth and the Spanish goalkeeper kept yet another clean sheet in the domestic championship.
The former Brentford keeper has kept 15 clean sheets this season in the English top flight, which has led him to win the award with two games to spare as his nearest challenger was Jordan Pickford with 12, so with only two games left the English keeper could not overtake Raya.
Mikel Arteta wanted to give value to how important it is that a team's goalkeeper has so many good performances and the self-confidence that the Spanish goalkeeper has, claiming that it is something key when it comes to fight for as many titles as possible.
"We're really pleased. It's a huge success for the team in this league to achieve that with a few games to go still. It gives us a huge foundation to be closer to winning trophies. The contribution from everybody including David obviously, it's really good," he told reporters.
"If we spend money we'd better do it wisely and in the most effective way! We're really happy with the recruitment that we had. It had a big impact in the team, it has raised not only the level of the team but the level of the rest of the players as well. You see today we had some big performances from a lot of individuals," concluded the Spanish coach.
