Cristiano Ronaldo ask Al Nassr to sign Casemiro to renew his contract

The Saudi Pro League returns for Al-Nassr on Thursday as they take on Al-Okhdood after a month and three days break. Their last match was on 6th December, when Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema met again in an exchange of goals, although Bergwijn eventually gave Al-Ittihad a stoppage-time winner as they went in search of the title.

A major difference from that match is that today, if he so wishes, Cristiano Ronaldo could sign for another team. The Portuguese superstar has six months left on his contract with Al-Nassr, whom he joined in January 2023 after leaving Manchester United. There are several options open to the No 7, although his priority is to continue in Saudi Arabia and he hopes to initiate contacts with his club soon to assess his continuity.

'Marca' published on Wednesday that there are several requests that Ronaldo has to make to Al-Nassr. One of them, with the aim of continuing to build a winning team, is the signing of Casemiro. The Brazilian was his team-mate in Real Madrid's three consecutive Champions League triumphs and was also his support during his worst moments at United. Now he wants to share a dressing room with him again.

The fact is that the operation could be complex. Casemiro is not happy at United, his season has been plagued by problems and individual mistakes and the change of coach has been bad for him. He was a permanent fixture for Erik ten Hag, but Ruben Amorim has dropped him to the bench and is now relying more on Manuel Ugarte alongside Mainoo. He might be crazy to leave, but he still has one more season left on his contract (signed until 2026), the club paid a significant sum for him at the time and he will have to evaluate if he wants to play in Saudi Arabia.

Casemiro is in his third season at Old Trafford. He arrived in the summer of 2022 with the Premier League already started, in fact he played the European Super Cup with Real Madrid, in exchange for 72 million euros and another 13 million euros in variables. Real Madrid saw a clear business case for the player because of his age and the fact that the Red Devils were hoping he would add experience and a competitive edge to their squad.
