The Premier League bid farewell to Leeds on Sunday, after the side fell at home to Tottenham, meaning they were condemned to spending next season in the Championship.
If we cast our minds back to the start of the season, when Chelsea took on that Leeds side, during the encounter, the London side Tweeted 'Starting to assert ourselves!' with the score still at 0-0. Leeds then went on to score three, winning the tie convincing 3-0.
In response to Chelsea's original Tweet, the Leeds' Twitter account posted the teasing message 'Life comes as you fast!'. It was brushed aside as a bit of Twitter banter, with nothing more to be said on the matter, until the final day.
After the northerners' relegation to the second tier, the Blues took it upon themselves to remind fans of what happened, reigniting the online war. The London side re-tweeted the original thread, captioning it with 'It certainly does', in a reference to the side's recent relegation.
This dig at Leeds has caused uproar amongst footballing fans, with many accusing Chelsea of hypocrasy, especially after the disappointing campaign they have had this term.
