Riccardo Calafiori is edging ever closer to Arsenal despite rumours of strong interest from Juventus and a reunion with Thiago Motta. In the end, it looks like the Italy international will be far from Serie A, more specifically in the Premier League.
The defender was a key player on Thiago Motta's squad for Bologna's historic Champions League qualification and finished last season with 33 competitive matches, in which he scored two goals and provided five assists.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the defender's inner circle has agreed personal terms with the Gunners, leaving the ball now in the court of the Serie A outfit.
The Italian club's request is for 50 million euros and the London club are closing in on that figure to meet the wishes of coach Mikel Arteta. Basel will receive 50% of the proceeds from the sale of the player, as agreed with Bologna in his transfer last season.
