As Manchester City neared their second consecutive Champions League final, Rodrygo Goes appeared with a brace to send the semi-final tie into extra time, and once again Real Madrid rose from the dead in the competition.
Karim Benzema could not get his name on the scoresheet in regular time, but the Frenchman did not miss out on his goal. After a Rodrygo cross, the striker ran into the box with the ball at his feet and City's Ruben Dias brought him down. The referee did not hestitate when pointing to the spot.
This time, the Frenchman decided against a 'Panenka' penalty, the style he opted for in the first leg, but rather slotted his spot kick into the bottom right corner. The City keeper dived the opposite way and Benzema wheeled off to celebrate in front of the home fans.
Benzema had completed the turn around, making the scoreline in the match 3-1, and the total aggregate scoreline read 6-5. The thirteen time champions are now in the Champions League final yet again after another historic evening at the Bernabeu.
