Bayern Munich advance talks for Upamecano contract extension

Bayern Munich are advancing well in talks to secure a new contract for French defender Dayot Upamecano. The 27-year-old's current deal is set to expire in June 2026, but Bayern are keen to tie down the centre-back's future well in advance. 

Upamecano has become a key figure in Vincent Kompany's defensive setup, with his exceptional speed proving crucial to the Belgian manager's offensive system. 

Kompany and the club's management have been impressed by the defender's performances, which have cemented his place as a key member of the team. 

Upamecano himself has expressed a desire to continue his journey with Bayern, citing his happiness with the team's development and his relationship with Kompany. 

The new contract could potentially extend Upamecano's stay at the Allianz Arena until 2029, with an option for an additional year.
