Jose Luis Palomino's life changed three months ago. A drug test by the National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO) found a substance called nandrolone in his body, known to improve physical performance by increasing muscle growth, red blood cell creation and bone density.
"The analysis of the B sample taken on 5/7/2022 in Ciserano from the athlete Jose Luis Palomino and carried out on 11/8/2022 at the Anti-Doping Laboratory in Rome confirmed the results obtained in the first analyses," the Prosecutor's Office stated.
However, the Atalanta player requested a counter-test, but tested positive again and missed the first months of competition. Now, the Italian National Anti-Doping Court cleared him of his positive test, as it upheld the hypothesis put forward by the player's defence, in which he reported a possible accidental contamination of Clostebol Metabolite Metabolite.
"I am confident, we are waiting for the veredict," said the Atalanta player. The resolution will allow the player to resume training immediately and he could return to competition when his coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, decides.
