Midfielder Emile Smith Rowe has become one of Arsenal's exit rumours. The player has been linked with a possible move to Newcastle United in the January transfer window.
The Gunners youth product broke into the Premier League in 2020 where he finished the season as Arsenal's top scorer. However, due to fitness issues the player's development has not improved and his progress appears to have stalled.
Once one of the first options for Arteta, he has now become the third choice behind Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira. Newcastle have no problem with his lack of minutes and are considering signing him and Eddie Howe would have no problem providing him with minutes.
"An incredible season for a number 10 of Arsenal means he needs to score 15 goals and give 10 assists," Arteta made it clear in 2021 what he expects from an attacking midfielder.
It seems that the 23-year-old has failed to live up to these figures set by Arteta. Smith Rowe has yet to score or provide an assist this season and has only played two games for Arsenal in the Premier League.
