Changes are on the horizon for the umpteenth time in Argentine football. According to journalist Esteban Edul, there will be no relegations as planned this season and they will be postponed to 2025, but everything could change drastically on 17 October as Argentina will once again split its season into two tournaments.
The new top competition will have 30 teams and the championships will be divided into two 15-legged zones with a date reserved for the big games. The round of 16 will then be played at the home ground of the highest-ranked team and the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will take place in a neutral stadium.
During 2025, there will be two relegations, one according to the positions in the annual table and the other according to the usual average. Finally, the rest of the competitions to be played during the year will be the Copa Argentina, the Trofeo de Campeones and the Supercopa Argentina.
