This is how Liga de Quito players celebrated their 2-1 win away at Grêmio in the second leg of the 2021 Copa Sudamericana Round of 16. The Ecuadorian side went though on away goals.
Liga de Quito travelled to Brazil to take on Gremio in a Copa Sudamericana last 16 second leg.
Gremio had a 0-1 lead from the first leg and they took the lead thanks to a goal by Diego Souza midway through the first half. The Ecuadorians equalised just before the interval as Jordy Alcivar scored. Then, in the 56th minute, LDU were awarded a spot kick and Jordy Alcivar made no mistake from 12 yards. There were no further goals in the contest and it was 2-2 on aggregate, but LDU went through on away goals. Take a look at behind the scenes footage from the clash in the video above!
LDU Quito will take on another Brazilian side in the quarter-finals, Athletico Paranaense.
