Yeni Malatyaspor confirmed the death of their goalkeeper Eyup Turkaslan following the earthquakes in Turkey. His lifeless body was found under the rubble.

The news from Turkey is not at all encouraging. A region of the Ottoman country was shaken by two high-magnitude earthquakes in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Already thousands of people have been injured and deaths have occurred. Unsurprisingly, this has led to the suspension of up to three Turkish Premier League matches.

However, the worst news was not long in coming. According to media reports, a professional footballer was reportedly dead under the rubble.

It is Eyup Turkaslan, from Yeni Malatyaspor in the second division. The club itself confirmed this on its social media. It was also reported that, at the same time, two coaches of the club were also buried, although it was not confirmed that they had lost their lives.
