'The Sun' said some weeks ago that Man City would go for Nicolas Taglafico in January. However, they efforts could be in vain because 'De Telegraaf' reports that Ajax have agreed to extend the full-back's contract until 2023.

Even though it is not official yet, everything seems to suggest that Nicolas Taglaifico will renew his Ajax contract. According to 'De Telegraaf', the club have reached an agreement with the full-back to extend his contract until 2023.

The Argentine's current contract at Ajax was due to end in 2022, but he is expecting to get a major pay rise as a result of this extra year. This is because of his performances for the club

Tagliafico arrived at Ajax in January 2017 from Independiente and he immediately nailed down a left back spot at the club. He has made 110 appearances, scored 12 goals and got 15 assists in his three years so far.

In fact, his new contract seems a clear message to clubs that have shown interest in him in recent months. Man City were very keen, but they missed out on him in the symmer. 'The Sun' says they will have another go in January.

Then, the English media were saying that signing Nicolas Tagliafico could cost around 26 million euros. This contract renewal is more proof he is a key player for Ajax. Tagliafico also has 28 caps for Argentina.
