Australian champions knocked out of cup by semi-pro team

Melbourne Victory showed their ambition when they managed to attract Japanese international midfielder Keisuke Honda over the summer, and are one of the biggest teams in Australia after winning the A-League last season.

However, Honda was not present in this game and the team suffered as a result. One of the goalscorers for the underdogs was also a Japanese player.

While Honda has played at the World Cup, Tasuku Sekiya works in the kitchen at the Sydney Opera House, but was on the scoresheet in the match.

Sekiya opened the scoring nine minutes in to the match and added a second goal shortly in to the second half.

Melbourne managed to level the game with two quick-fire goals to make it seem like they would give the favourties a chance at victory.

It was Apia Leichhardt that got the winner when Natahan Millgate headed home on 80 minutes to give the semi-professional side a famous victory.
