Union Saint-Gilloise finally wants to win the Belgian Cup, which they have not won since 1914. After being one of the country's top clubs at the beginning of the century, the Second World War put a brake on what had been one of Belgium's great projects, and the club was relegated in the 1970s.
In the early 1980s, they even played in the Belgian fourth tier, although their natural status was to play in the third tier, but everything changed with the change of divisions in the country.
Since then, Union Saint-Gilloise have been among the best teams in the country. Second in the year of their return to the elite, third last season, this time they are third, three points off the top.
But all eyes are now on the Belgian Cup. Union Saint-Gilloise have not won the title since 17th May 1914. 110 years is a long time to wait.
